Sunset at La Salle

A new venue at Saadiyat Beach Club, Abu Dhabi

Recent times have not been kind to anyone. Locked up at our homes with our social and professional lives all caved into our personal spaces through screens is not easy. With things moving into a positive direction and a zillion safety measures in place, our ‘usual’ life is slowly blooming.

In such a scene you give me the option for a lovely sunset dinner overlooking the beach, count me in a hundred times! La Salle, the new French dining venue at Saadiyat Beach Club is riding on this gorgeous sunset wave for sure. Inspired by the Provence region of South France, their menu and logo expose the highlights of the region. The vintage chandelier and the massive rustic chef’s table at the centre of the restaurant is a bold focal point and the only aspect that can distract you from the windows showing the beautiful Saadiyat beach and shimmering waters.

We welcomed our evening with some visually dramatic cocktails recommended by the team – Black Gold & Rita’s Revenge. The Caffine Treat was a theatrical show by our table involving a siphon, my favourite poison – whiskey, coffee, vanilla bean and other lip-smacking notes.

The visual treats do not retreat the table with the drinks; a colourful Provence flare is seen across the dishes served with a splash of Mediterranean in it. We started off with Pulpo á feira (charred octopus), Yellowtail Kingfish Carpaccio and a gorgeous Burrata with caviar. The team proudly showcase their authentic Arbequina olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar that are drizzled fresh before you dig in.

The menu brings with it a few pasta offerings, such as a classic Mushroom Risotto with Alba White Truffle shavings. In addition to this, the mains spoil you for choice with a list of premium seafood and Wagyu steaks to select from. The generous portion sizes with traditionally complemented sides and sauces, you cannot go wrong with any pick. Another showstopper for the evening was waiting for the grand reveal in the dessert menu – Crêpe Suzette. With a table side performance of the flambé, this was the perfect end for the lovely evening. If you are done with the theatrics and in mood for something a little more subtle yet lavish, go for the Chocolate Fondant – a classic that will always warm your heart.

With the sun setting over the shimmering waters and us indulging in this vibrant menu need we ask for a perfect way to head into the weekend? Be it for a catch-up over some exquisite cocktails overlooking the Saadiyat beach or a sumptuous dinner, La Salle is your place to be at.
