Mitts & Trays, Bluewaters Island Dubai
Yet another weekend to kill on the sunny side of the world, decided to check out options on the recently opened Bluewaters Island. Mitts & Trays was calling to my eternal love for breakfast at any time of the day – how can Little Hungry Ninja ignore?
Bright interiors and brighter smiles are an instant positive hit for this restaurant. No hassle of menu books that clutter your view from everything else while you browse, they have a simple menu presented to you on iPads with description and images of what your dish would be – I like this.
Ninja Tip: The restaurant has a parking closer to it, ask them; rather than park at the Meraas basement parking and walk through the heat.
The best remedy to cool off the heat from the horrendous walk is their Spanish Latte. Just amazing!
Though at this point it is past 2pm, the breakfast menu was just too tempting to not try and who ever said no to a second breakfast? We ordered the Ultimate Breakfast and the Mexican Breakfast – a classic and a twist.
The Ultimate Breakfast was indeed ultimate. It was elevated English Breakfast in disguise – favourites like bacon, sausages, beans, grilled tomato, eggs your way, hash browns were accompanied with grilled cheese portobello, mashed avo, berries and a shooter of OJ. Go crazy!
The Mexican Breakfast did not have separate elements spread out like the other dish, but it was packed with flavours in one dish. What a contrast on our table. The eggs cooked with black beans, corn, tomato and basil and served directly from the skillet. Not to forget the ever colourful and flavourful Mexican basics – guacamole, tomato salsa and a generous dollop of fresh cream. However, the spotlight should be on the mini garlic tortillas that were on the side. Absolutely loved the play of Mexican flavours with a basic omelette.
I would head back here once the weather gets cooler, as they open the restaurant onto their terrace, order myself a Spanish Latte and explore more of the menu.
