Where to find Eggcellent Breakfasts

My favourites in Abu Dhabi.

You probably already know this, but I don’t tire from repeating – Breakfast food is the best and I can enjoy it at any time of the day. With a city filled with cute cafes, I found a few hidden and also well-known gems that have stolen the title of  “one of the best brekkie” from me. So, here we go.

Cafe 302, Al Markaziya

I can shout from a hill top on how much I love this cafe. This cafe was a pleasant surprise when I walked in. A complete contrast to its location, this place took my attention with its coffee. You would be surprised on how hard is it to find good coffee in this city and Cafe 302 delivers it with ease.

With a very chic setting the restaurant smartly divides itself into a lounge style good for a business meeting or just a coffee catch up and also a restaurant set-up for a proper meal. The cafe serves a range of healthy and comfort foods – but my ever favourite is their Breakfast Sandwich. A massive croissant stuffed with cheesy scrambled eggs and served with a side of roasted potatoes and tomatoes. This simple dish has to be enjoyed with their cappuccino and you are in food coma!

No. 57 Boutique Cafe, Al Bateen

Cute and elegant – this is what you feel when you walk into No. 57 Boutique Cafe. I adore their floor to ceiling glass windows which just ooze in fresh light. They have quite a few breakfast items on the menu that are served throughout the day.

One dish that stands out with its different complementing flavours and textures is the Middle Eastern Style Breakfast. Poached Eggs with sweet potato is great, but matching it with panfried halloumi, a generous spread of labneh which is given a kick with chilli flakes and soothed with cucumber is a work of art. Every bite is beautiful. This dish paired with their black coffee is a winning combo for that lazy weekend morning.

If you fancy something a little less exciting for the palate, I recommend the Burrata Scramble, which is a big plate full of gooey goodness. Perfect for a winter morning on their terrace overlooking the water.

Cafe Arabia, Al Karamah

This 3-storied cafe inspired by library feels is a popular caffeine destination for many in Abu Dhabi. Cafe Arabia has found its way to my heart with a good selection in their all-day breakfast menu. I can walk in any time of the day, find a cosy corner with a book and enjoy coffee and eggs in many forms.

In my interest to indulge in breakfast with a twist, I recommend the Turkish Poached Eggs. What a blast on the tastebuds with each bite! The garlic yogurt, soothing poached eggs and the sun-dried chilli – just so many flavours everywhere in a tasteful manner. The punch from the chilli will definitely wake you up.

Leopold’s of London, Al Khubeirah

With many outlets across town, Leopold’s of London was one of the first places I explored when I moved to Abu Dhabi. I prefer the one in Nation Galleria Mall as it has the best views of the Corniche’s busy life.

Leopold’s of London often has very attractive offers for breakfast, business lunch and weekend brunch. However, my favourite is a simple breakfast item – Eggs Benedict. Cooked and presented to perfection, this is something I would enjoy at any time of the day. My favourite part is nibbling on the black salt dusted across the plate.

With my favourite food item being eggs (no secret there), these are a few of the many places I have indulged in and liked what they served a tad bit more than the rest. Which ones have you tried? And what new places do you suggest for me to try? Let me know.
